The property has a wonderful farmhouse kitchen and a games room with table-tennis, table-football and a pool table; ideal for entertaining younger guests. In the summer months, French windows take you out onto a patio from which you can enjoy a glass of wine on a summer evening. In the colder seasons, the property has central heating throughout, making it a superb and spacious base for groups of up to eight people.
Rossett lies just inside the Welsh border, sitting on the banks of the River Alyn. It is surrounded by good, gentle walking country with much of the landscape being very flat, although hills do rise to the south and west. The village itself is made up of many striking buildings, such as Trevalyn Hall and a church that was built in 1892 by two architects and uses tubular bells to peal. Rossett is well situated for visitors to explore local attractions such as Chester Zoo, the Cheshire Ice Cream Farm and the ancient ruins of Beeston Castle. The River Alyn offers sport and tranquillity for fishermen and wildlife enthusiasts alike. Herons, cormorants, water voles and kingfishers are still to be seen along the Alyn and the fishing is plentiful.
Famous for its choirs, stunning mountain ranges and beautiful valleys, this wonderful country has something for everyone. From Snowdonia in North Wales to the Brecon Beacons and the Pembrokeshire Coast in the South.
Reviews of The Dairy
"Very lucky with the weather, we had 2 sunny and hot weeks to explore the country from here. The Dairy was an excellent place for us to drive to various place within an hour or so drive. It is homely, had all we needed with the terrific addition of the play barn to make the most of in the evening, improving our pool and table tennis each evening, keeping us from the world cup. It also has a nice quiet seating area for chilling with a book and glass of refreshment. There is a nice walk to the local coop in Marford, which also had a nice refit. AS mentioned, the house is central to visiting various places enabling us to visit Chester Zoo, Welsh Coast, Llangollen, The Aqueduct and Ty Mawr Country Park, Oswestry (British Iron Work Centre), Ellesmere, Chester, Wepre Park amongst others. Getting Tesco in Wrexham to deliver our first pile of shopping worked out really well too. I must also mention that Jimmi, the owner, was very attentive and helpful throughout, guiding us with where to go and in and around the property with a couple of minor things. A lovely friendly guy."

"Have just returned from a 4 night stay at The Dairy - with hubby, sister-in-law and another friend. Immaculate cottage, excellent facilities, large kitchen, large separate lounge and three lovely sized bedroom, the double having its own en-suite. Bev had left a lovely sponge, milk and other essentials to start our holiday - a really nice touch! Had a lovely time one evening in the separate games room trying to learn to play table tennis! Bev and her family were so welcoming. Will definitely go back as there are plenty of places to visit in the area."

"the cottage was lovely although some of the crockery could do with updating, there were six of us in the party including two young children, who had the run of the garden, the setting in the farm feels open and uncluttered, the owner was on hand had we needed her but was unobtusive the rest of the time. would recommend it for young family who dont mind travelling for shopping and entertainment"

"This house offers rural peace and quiet whilst being close by car to lots of varied activities within and around the historic city of Chester. The owners provided lots of useful information for those not familiar with the area, and there is something for everyone to do whatever the weather in this region, The swings and large trampoline in the garden were appreciated by my young nephew. Two of the bedrooms are larger than most - one a double bed ensuite, and one with twin beds - but the third one is a much smaller twin room. The provision of a cot was very helpful. Downstairs has a spacious lounge with plenty of comfy sofas (one sofa bed) and direct access to the patio and garden. The large kitchen diner has room to seat 8 at the table, so the property can easily accommodate large families or extended groups. . Most needs have been considered by the owners - the usual DVD/video/TV package etc, but also books and some games are present and the kitchen is well stocked with equipment, including a high chair. The property was also very clean. However, during our stay in early May 2010 there were a couple of important reasons why we were all relieved to be staying only 3 nights. The mattresses on all the beds were long past their best and were very uncomfortable. These need to be replaced to bring the accommodation up to the required standard for a comfortable stay. Secondly, two of the bedrooms have velux roof windows with no blinds fitted on them so we were woken far too early by light flooding into the rooms. On a more minor negative note, some of the towels provided were extremely small for the job - one "hand towel" was no bigger than a large facecloth! Overall, we enjoyed our waking moments in the house, but had difficulties with the sleeping moments, due to the problems listed above. This is a shame, as it marred our experience of an otherwise lovely house. I hope these issues are soon fixed and then all who visit will have a great break I am sure."
