Location
The Barn is a detached barn conversion on a livestock farm in Rossett. The cottage has a double and a twin room, and a bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC. There is a kitchen with dining area, and a sitting room with sofabed. Guests have use of a shared games room and shared lawned garden, and a private patio with furniture. The Barn is a very welcoming base for enjoying the attractions around Rossett including the shopping, river and zoo at Chester, the city of Liverpool, and the attractions of north Wales including Llangollen and Snowdonia.
Rossett lies just inside the Welsh border, sitting on the banks of the River Alyn. It is surrounded by good, gentle walking country with much of the landscape being very flat, although hills do rise to the south and west. The village itself is made up of many striking buildings, such as Trevalyn Hall and a church that was built in 1892 by two architects and uses tubular bells to peal. Rossett is well situated for visitors to explore local attractions such as Chester Zoo, the Cheshire Ice Cream Farm and the ancient ruins of Beeston Castle. The River Alyn offers sport and tranquillity for fishermen and wildlife enthusiasts alike. Herons, cormorants, water voles and kingfishers are still to be seen along the Alyn and the fishing is plentiful.
Famous for its choirs, stunning mountain ranges and beautiful valleys, this wonderful country has something for everyone. From Snowdonia in North Wales to the Brecon Beacons and the Pembrokeshire Coast in the South.
Reviews of The Barn
"On arriving near Gresford, we easily followed Jimmi's directions to 'The Barn'. Such a quiet, charming location in the countryside. A group of houses, excellently done up, as rentals. The Barn, was our "Home away from Home" for our week's holiday. The house was very well equipped. The kitchen was massive! The beds were comfy, even the pull out one. The children loved the ground trampoline and the games room. They made friend's with the neighbour's children in the evenings! We had the use of a BBQ too. We had excellent weather so we visited alot of outdoor places.... Our Highlights were:- Chester City, Chester Zoo, Erddig National Trust House, Chirk Castle National Trust, Ice Cream Farm (which the children really loved!). We ate out in The Trevor's Arms and The Red Lion. The local co-op was great for groceries. And Jimmi had fresh eggs for sale! Our Family has NO hesitation giving this accommodation 5*'s, I'd give it 10*'s if I could! Great location and great house. Thanks Jimmi, you made us most welcome. DV we'll get a chance to return. "

"The Barn exceeded expectations. We had plenty of room for our family of 5, the property was very peaceful, it was in a perfect location for touring North Wales, Chester and the Midlands. The kitchen was huge - very nice for preparing meals. The owner also sold us fresh eggs in the morning...which we took advantage of for most of our breakfasts. The internet speed was great so we were able to keep in touch with our family in Canada and upload photos, etc. This was hands down the best cottage we've stayed at. If/when we come back to the UK, we'll stay here again. Highly recommended."

"VERY spacious. All mod cons and a welcome cake and drinks provided. Fresh eggs can be purchased. Comfortable and very clean. Owner on hand for any queries but not intrusive. There were a few dishwasher tablets, cleaning items, salt & pepper, some books & games and DVD's in the property when we arrived which were for our use. In a lovely rural location but very close to main roads which made it easy to visit places. I would say property is nearer Gresford than Rossett. Visited Chester Zoo, excellent day out, Bodnant Gardens, Llangollen, Chirk Castle, Horseshoe Pass and had a day in Chester too using the park and ride which was very convenient. I would definitely book this property again."
