Reviews of Captiva Cottage
"Most disgusting house I have ever stayed in after 33 years of visiting Saundersfoot!!!! The house was dirty on arrival, there was smell that hit you as soon as you walked in and on inspection the toilet cistern had black grime running from it, everywhere felt sticky and grubby. The skirting boards were covered in thick black dust don't think they had been cleaned ever! The outside area littered with cigarettes VILE!!! The table cloth even had remnants of the previous occupiers breakfast on it. The knife and fork draw was filthy. We knew instantly we needed to leave as it was way below habitable for holiday guests we didn't even unpack. We rang Sykes and as the contract is with the owner we had no choice but to stay as she refused to release us, we were advised by sykes to stay as we may lose our money, she sent the cleaners back around as a token gesture however they made the excuses about it being dog friendly however it should still be clean and tidy!!! This place needed a deep clean worrying at the start of the season it was in this state. After a long journey and having 2 children and an elderly dog we were backed into a corner. We endured that one night and on the the next morning I had got back on the phone to Sykes as we had found thick black mould under the beds and dehumidifier boxes under every bed and moisture bags full of stale water in the wardrobes obviously a very bad damp problem no good for children, pets or asthma suffers like our family. I had also found a metal bin in the garden full of water and old dog poo absolutely RANK!!!! After many many phone conversations we were finally released from the contract, but the owner had the cheek to deduct the one night we had had to endure I think we should have been compensated for having to stay here, as it was easter everywhere was fully booked so we had no choice but to return home!! It completely ruined our long awaited holiday!! Only words I have to describe this place is VILE need environmental health inspection not fit for purpose in any way shape or form I'm shocked that there haven't been anymore reviews like this. Awful awful house."

"Captiva Cottage is situated in a fantastic location with easy access to shops restaurants, fish & chips, coffee shops, the beach and most importantly for me access to the coastal path where I spent many hours walking and enjoying the scenic views along the pathways. Although the weather was a little cold and windy as long as you were dressed up warmly nothing could stop the enjoyment and re-energising feeling of walking along the Pembroke Coast. The Cottage was very warm and welcoming with all the kitchen utensils you could possibly ever need ! In fact the whole cottage was well equipped with TV's in every room and the main living room had a cosy fire which gave a comforting glow after that long coastal walk. All appliances /heating/hot water working perfectly we had no problems with anything at the property The interior design was a joy, it was beach themed all light and clean with very tasteful pictures and objects d'art throughout the cottage We thoroughly enjoyed our stay it suited the needs of my elderly parents as well as families and their dogs. I would totally recommend this beautiful holiday home and I will definitely be returning for another holiday."

"Just got home from a week in Captiva Cottage. Only ten minutes from the beach and shops, so ideal for a young family. Suggest you don't attempt the steps to the garden unless your fit, and have good balance as the 19 steps on the staircase are narrow and quite steep. The main downside to the property, in my opinion, was that, with three young children in the party, there were sometimes problems if the toilet and shower were required at the same time. so not enough bathrooms for eight people, hence 4 stars and not five. Another observation was the amount of dust on skirting boards, tops of cupboards and most top surfaces in all rooms. Everywhere is painted white, so with no carpets anywhere, the dust is there to see. There was dust underneath furniture in all rooms, so it really needs a thorough surface clean. On the plus side, the weather was great and we had a good holiday."
