Reviews of Laburnham Cottage

"Just spent a week in this delightful cosy cottage with everything you needed for a comfortable week away. Enjoyed watching the boats on the quey from our front garden and only a 2 minute walk to the local pub to sample their own brew. The owners Phil and Rhian and their gorgeous pooch Dizzy made us feel welcome on arrival and throughout our stay."

It is a lovely cosy cottage, overlooking the estuary. There is a pub 2 mins walk away. It is ideally located for exploring that part of wales. The owners and their entertaining dog were very welcoming. The only disappointing thing for us, was when our holiday had to come to an end. Would highly recommend this cottage, if thinking of staying in the area."

"The property was small but cosy and very suitable for a couple with two children (in bunk beds). The location in a small hamlet at the head of a tidal inlet was beautiful and it was centrally placed to make it easy to get to the coast and other very attractive countryside. There are plenty of walks nearby which our retriever enjoyed. The owners of the cottage live next door and were extremely friendly and helpful. We would thoroughly recommend it."

"Top quality in every respect...set in a wonderful setting the whole experience was a delight from start to finish. Delightful owners who live next door have the holiday cottage business down to a fine art...everything has been considered....we could not find anything which we thought had been missed or improved upon. The outdoor area is stunning...sitting overlooking the tidal river with the use of the barbecue,, glass of wine in hand was so relaxing and fascinating. Log burner, oceans of hot water, soft towels and beds you just won't want to get out of.....we do a lot of cooking and found everything we could ever need...all of an excellent quality."

"The cottage location was much more central than we had realised and was quiet with wonderful views. Wales and the Welsh were welcoming and much happier than we remembered from previous holidays many years ago. The nearby beaches were spotless and well-maintained. The roads to various places were quiet and a pleasure to use. "

"We had a wonderfull short break in Laburnum cottage. The Cressely arms was open again, the weather was dry!, and there were so many interesting places to visit that we were spoilt and filled with indecision. The cottage was very comfortable and was a home from home kind of experience for us. Well equipped and well positioned, we could not ask for more. We will the back!."

"The location is great, however the cottage smelt of damp and the wall in the very cramped, small bedroom, had a serious condensation problem. So much so that towels had to be put on the foot of the bed to catch the running drips. The radiator wasn't working either. On making the owners aware of the problem they fixed the radiator, were apologetic about the condensation but offered no solutions. They do have a B and B next door and could have offered a room until this was resolved. We left early on Tuesday morning because the damp was affecting our friends health. There were a lot of cobweb, very dark, around the walls and ceilings, some had obviously been there for some time. I sliced some bread on a slatted board and there were so many cobwebs that no crumbs hit the bottom of the board! The bathroom door would only stay closed if you locked it, the double bedroom door wouldn't close and you had to be some kind of strong man to open or close the front door. The fridge/freezer had not been turned on so nowhere to put the frozen foods I'd brought with me. It was totally defrosted with water in the bottom of the freezer section. A starter pack for the log burner was included - no fire lighters, no newspaper, no matches - and we don't smoke so couldn't light the fire until the following evening as we were aware that it was 8 miles to the nearest shop. This cottage, in my opinion, is cramped, except for the double bedroom. It is probably fine for two people in the summer. The house is damp. The wallpaper at the bottom of the stair is literally just hanging on the wall. It wobbles if you touch it. There is no way that this cottage deserves it's tourist rating. We were given a refund for the nights we didn't stay but as this was a birthday treat for my husband it was a spoiled gift. Sue Hazell"

The owners lived next door and were able to provide information and advice. The pub just over the road was a great place to chill after a long walk and before our evening meal also a lovely way to meet the locals. All in all a perfect holiday destination ."
