Reviews of Bwthyn Y Jacdo

"What a little gem this cottage is. Owners are friendly but unobtrusive and they left a welcome pack of eggs, milk, Welsh Cakes and fresh flowers. The cottage is clean, homely, and comfortable. IIt was well stocked with everything you could possibly need for a self catering break. Although we didn't use the log burner there were plenty of logs, fire lighters and kindling provided and ready to use, The fire was situated in a huge Inglenook fireplace. There were plenty of towels and the bed linen was of good quality. The garden area was plenty big enough and totally enclosed so was safe for my dogs. We found the location ideal for a quiet break and wouldn't hesitate in going back to this cottage if it was available next time we want to holiday in West Wales. ."

"Bwthyn Y Jacdo is a lovely haven of peace and tranquillity, set apart in the grounds of a larger house, but completely set apart, with a small garden and outdoor seating area. You can be assured of a warm but unobtrusive welcome from your hosts, who will have left you a welcome pack of their own eggs (marvellous), full fat Welsh milk and various other goodies. The property has two bedrooms, an insanely comfortable double, and bunk beds in the small bedroom, with a well appointed bathroom. Downstairs is the main lounge/kitchen with a log burning stove. I had a few problems keeping this alight, so would recommend the self burning logs which even a dullard like me can keep burning for a couple of hours. Central heating is also included for the chillier nights! Crymych is a great location for much of the Pembrokeshire countryside and stunning coastline, and walkers are spoiled for choice. The village has a small Co-op store, but for serious food shopping, there is Tesco and Lidl in nearby Cardigan. The village also has a cafe, a kebab shop and a pub, the Crymych Arms, none of which we visited! Well I did step into the bar of the pub one late afternoon...anybody remember "American Werewolf in London" where the American guys walk into the Yorkshire inn, "The Slaughtered Lamb"? Literally everybody stops talking and looks at you. We found a warmer welcome in The Druid in Gonigan near Aberystwyth, where they love dogs! Plenty to do and see for a week, and beautiful beaches to walk on. Also, for anglers, there are some lovely fishing lakes in the vicinity, including a specimen carp venue owned by ace angler Ian Heaps. County Sports in Haverfordwest can supply bait and tackle. Wales is a beautiful country, and this cottage is well worth a visit."
