Reviews of Meirion House

"Second break here and had a wonderful time. Great location for Snowdonia national park. Some lovely local hill and beach walks. Accommodation was homely, spacious, clean and welcoming. Enjoyed a chilled evening around the log fire after a meal and beer (or 2!) at the local pub down the road!! Looking forward to next visit already :))"

"What a beautiful cottage! In town, very close to shops and restaurants. Warm and welcoming describe both to cottage and its owner, who went out of his way to be sure all the details were perfect. The beds were comfy, the scenery breath-taking, and the experience exactly what one would desire for private relaxation. The cottage does not have a washer and dryer, but head to Harlech, take the downward road to the left, turn right just before the railroad tracks, and Cambrian Cleaners is on the right immediately across from the fire station. They are only open M-F 8:30 to 5:30, so plan accordingly. :)"

"We enjoyed a fabulous long weekend at Merion House. The sun was shining so we made use of one of the walks written down in the information book. This is a fabulous touch by the owner, the directions were great and the scenery stunning! The house is nice and cozy, and the log fire is a delight. I also love all of the little decorative touches around the house which make Merion House a place I would come back to time and again. Even the beds are comfy! Not a bad word to say! "

"Have camped at Shell Island previously but wanted some home comforts whilst further exploring this beautiful part of Wales... perfect home from home! Made welcome on arrival with some homemade biscuits and a few essentials in the fridge. House is spacious and tastefully decorated. Big comfy beds and house is impeccably clean. Lovely to curl up in front of the log fire in the evening. On the one occasion we couldn't park directly outside the property, parked in the pub car park which was less than 2 minutes walk away (does a decent breakfast if you can't be bothered cooking!) Will definitely be returning to Meirion house next year. "

"We booked Mierion House for a weeks holiday with my parents, and 2 dogs, we chose the property for the location, size, local amenities and that it was dog friendly, although we did have to pay extra to take 2 dogs, but it did not appear to be a problem. The booking process was straightforward and the staff helpful. I was contacted a few days before by the owner with key location information. We arrived late in the afternoon, and it was raining (as it did most of the week), the parking was not ideal, it was in front of the property on the main road which was very busy most of the time, the space was not guaranteed, and the thoughtless parking of the adjoining residents and their visitors meant that we had to park in the pub car park a few times as the space was taken. We were really pleased with the cottage, it was clean, bright, comfortable and well equipped, they had even left 2 dog bowls for us to use. There was also a pint of milk in the fridge, and some home made shortbread which my mum enjoyed. The bathroom was big and very clean, and the bedrooms were all well furnished and the beds were very comfortable with lovely bedding. My parents thought that the bedrooms were cold but there were heaters all over the house for a boost if required. The lounge was a good size with 3 big comfy sofas with throws if needed. There was a real fire but we did not need to light it as it was not that cold, but I would imagine it would be lovely in winter. The kitchen has everything we needed but we ate out mostly. We visited the local Pub the Victoria which was great, we went to Shell Island, Portmadog, and the beach there too. Harlech Castle was only a couple of miles away, and we also visited the beach at Barmouth. We would have visited Portmierion but it did not allow dogs so that was out. On the whole it is a very dog friendly area and we had plenty of good walks, and the dogs loved the sea. A great base to explore this beautiful area, and we would love to visit again."

"We loved this house; it is stylish, comfortable and well equipped. Llanbedr is a pretty little village very close to Shell Island and several other wonderful sandy beaches safe for swimming. We loved walking by the river and even saw otters playing in the water. Within minutes you can walk from the house through unspoilt ancient woodlands and up into the range of hills behind the village. It is close to Harlech and also within easy drive to Criccieth, Portmadog, Barmouth, all lovely coastal towns."

"Having been a regular visitor to the near by Shell Island for many years, it was a pleasure to spend a few days exploring the area from this beautiful home. Packed with all the amenities you could need Merion House is in a great location and has plenty of space. With two double bedrooms to choose from and two single bedrooms as well we'll definitely be back with all of the family. The house is clean and tastefully decorated with lovely little touches that bring a sense of fun. A small selection of books on the history and myths of north wales and a flat screen tv can provide indoor entertainment if needed. The open fire is a wonderful feature to warm up cold winters nights and we loved it. The house is a stones throw from beach, mountain, river and forest so we found lots of lovely walks to keep us occupied. We would recommend this place to anyone and will certainly come back soon. "
