Reviews of Lantonhall West Wing

"Lantonhall West Wing is a very central and convenient self-catering unit for two adults set in beautiful and tranquil pasture land near Jedburgh in the Scottish Borders. The car parking area in front of the property was excellent and the access to the building was ideal. The unit has a ramp and the rooms are all on one level and the place is light, airy and spacious with plenty of accommodation for placing holiday items such as cameras, bags, flasks and the like within easy reach. If you are not so good on your pins then this holiday let is very convenient. Furthermore, the property has a wide and sound front door; there are grab rails in the bathroom situated in the walk-in shower and around the toilet areas. The facilities of the unit were all excellent including the optional wood stove which we used to augment the efficient heating system a couple of times. Inside there was a treasure trove of information about local restaurants, places of interest and attractions complete with a road atlas. The geography of Lantonhall facilitated many excursions and for example we soon located the restored railway service at Tweedbank and took a morning train to Edinburgh. The rail journey was completed in less than an hour from the new station and it is free to park the car at this location. We took the train to avoid parking problems and new one way systems in the capital city. Melrose, Hawick, Selkirk and Kelso are towns which are all within easy reach of Lantonhall West Wing. These towns and local attractions are well signposted. Ruth and Martin Johnson (next door) are a very congenial couple and a great source of local information. We appreciated the clear directions to Lantonhall and also a welcome pack in the fridge in the form of traditional bacon and eggs. Other provisions were also available in the cupboards and the kitchen was well stocked with utensils. Well behaved dogs are welcome at the self-catering unit. During our stay in early April we enjoyed the abundance of daffodils of different species in the grounds. The property is certainly not overlooked and the sound of an occasional pheasant is heard. Lastly, we would describe Lantonhall as a rural and picturesque idyll in the Borders."
