Strathpeffer is a spa village in the Scottish Highlands and has been compared to a Bavarian Mountain resort. In the 1700s, spring water was discovered in the scenic village and was declared as the healthiest drinking water in Britain in 1819. The Spa Pavilion in the village has been superbly restored and is now a venue for dramas, dances, exhibitions and concerts.

From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain's best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

Reviews of Lilac Cottage

"All in all, a lovely cottage with lovely clean, bright and airy rooms. The rooms are lovely and light and comfy beds with modern kitchen and bathroom. A lovely big secure garden for our dog who loved it! The kitchen could do with some more saucepans as not enough to cook a roast dinner with it. The heating certainly did its job too as was very cold when we arrived. It could do with some up to date maps and guides on the local area too. All in all a lovely cottage with lots to do/walks around the area. "

"Booked for base for holiday to see family. Excellent and comfortable cottage in a quite area. Plenty of room and pictures do not really do justice to the size, accommodation and features of the cottage. Would certainly be high for consideration for a return visit."

"Stayed 5 nights 22nd December to 27th December. The cottage was lovely and Jane nd husband Kenny were most welcoming. The cottage was like home so charmingly decorated in my taste and had everything one would require. Log burner was brilliant what a heat and I became an expert in that field lol. The scenery roundabout is lovely and the tranquillity so so nice. It is a good one nd half mike walk into strathpeffer fine during day but in dark as rifle walk pavement on man busy road one has to be careful and very alert. Although we walked it quite a lot . My dog loved the safe garden and walks down by the river etc . People so friendly .We had a fantastic time could have stayed longer also weather was great for that time of year, will definitely be back"

"The cottage perfectly met our expectations. We found plenty of room and felt really at home during our one week stay. The facilities were comfortable and the TV/WiFi worked great. The fireplace was well prepared and on that one cold evening it generated a warm and cosy atmosphere."

The owner was very helpful and made us feel welcome. We had a very relaxing short break and would be very happy to return to the cottage in the future. "

"The cottage was cosy and snug with a large garden for the dogs, and the birds kept us entertained over breakfast, so much so we had to buy a supply of nuts for them. Lilac Cottage is situated close enough to most attractions in the area with a large area of off road parking."
