The County Roscommon village of Curraghboy, lies 8 miles northwest of Athlone. It has a public house and two grocery shops. The nearby village of Kiltoom is situated just 6 miles away and also has a village store. Athlone, at the very centre of Ireland, is just 9.5 miles away and is the largest town in the region and is home to a 12th century castle. Roscommon is 12 miles away, and offers a selection of shops, pubs and eateries, as well as a varied programme at the Rosscommon Arts Centre.
