"We spent two weeks in this house ,Cherryfield is located close to the village of Ballyragget about 20 mins from Kilkenny. The house itself is comfortable and will provide you with all your needs but it's the hugely welcoming and genuine owners Liam and Breda plus their sons Paul, Brian and Steven, that makes for an unforgettable holiday.Their helpfulness and friendship will away be valued, my two granddaughters thought it was paradise with the dogs Buster, Rover and sometimes Nelly vying for their attention . They got to feed the chickens, collect the eggs, met the horses, seen the calves, visited the milking parlour and seen the bunnies in the fields on an evening . They enjoyed the large gardens and their own princesses castle and the freedom that all entails. There are plenty of places of interest in Kilkenny , great pubs and good restaurants and Castlecomer Discovery Park is a 15 minute drive away . It has loads to keep the children happy and the grandparents got to do the Zip-wire run for an adrenalin rush. Durrow, Abbeyleix and Port Laiose are also within a 15 to 30 min away. The only words of caution are that this house is on a busy working farm and children should be closely supervised around the farmyard. Will our family be returning to Cherryfield in the future, without doubt!!!!"

"This cottage is in a very beautiful part of Ireland. There's plenty to see in the area and lots of pretty little villages within a short drive. We arrived to a very warm welcome from Breda who had prepared food and drinks for us, she also waited on us while we ate and had also made some fruit loaf and an apple pie. Nothing was too much trouble for Bread and Liam and they always had information and advice on places to visit. We collected eggs from the farm for our breakfast and the cottage was extremely comfortable and homely with everything we needed for our stay. I would recommend this cottage very highly to either couples sharing or a family and would certainly stay there again."

We arrived late at night after some delayed flight issues. Breda had fresh bread, jam, butter, and a pie ready for us when we arrived. She also made sure that we had food for breakfast since we had arrived late and were unable to go to the store. The location is very central, which made it very easy for sightseeing. The farm is fun to stay at, and we even got to see the birth of a calf! Cherryfield is a true Ireland gem and we had a wonderful stay."

From the moment we arrived we were greeted like family. Liam and Breda went out of their way to ensure that we had everything we needed and even rearranged the furniture in my sons room so that he could continue with his work. We were often spoilt with home made goodies and there is an endless supply of firewood delivered to your door. We got to feed new born calves and Liam even allowed my daughter to name them. The cottage is lovely and cosy, home away from home, with 3 bedrooms and 2 perfect bathrooms, fully loaded kitchen, washer & dryer, great dishwasher...just all the comforts. BUT the best reason for staying here are the fantastic hosts, Breda and Liam. We've been staying at self catering properties since 1994 and never have we had such an excellent time with the owners, They make you feel so good to be staying there that you want to take them home with you! Yes, thanks to Breda and Liam, we enjoyed our stay incredibly so (and even though it seemed to go by in the blink of an eye.) We can wholeheartedly recommend this property to anyone! Thanks Breda, thanks Liam! Helpful Hint: If you do stay...be sure and bring some lovely little dog treats for the incredible Rover and Buster...they'll show you around the grounds, across the road where the chickens live and they'll only want a treat or 12 for their efforts!!! We shall miss you all."

What we initially chose as a matter of convenience turned out to be a real gem. The cottage is cosy and simply furnished with all modern conveniences on a farm owned by Liam and Breda Murphy. It would be rated as good but what makes it excellent, is the warm hospitality we enjoyed from Liam and Breda. This included complimentary freshly baked bread on our arrival, accompanied by apple pie and cream. The invitation to collect fresh farm eggs from the chicken coop each day at no extra cost. The very helpful advice given by Breda on visiting local attractions and the Wicklow mountains. Our trip from Mid Wales with a 16 month old was long and tiring to say the least, and when we arrived, food, drink and the most delicious homemade apple pie was provided so that we didn't have to worry about preparing food for our first night. Every detail is thoughtfully presented, and you will want for nothing when you stay. Fresh eggs are available if you collect yourself from the hen house, and everything you need is available in the house. The farm is a working dairy farm, and you are welcomed to wander around and see what goes on. My little daughter was so taken with the young calves and the cows being milked, collecting the eggs from the chickens and playing with the farm dogs. "This was our first stay in Southern Ireland and we'd never heard of Ballyragget before. However, the cottage was easy to find as Breda supplied good directions... You won't find more charming, welcoming or friendly hosts than Breda and Liam. Despite having to run their farm, we were greeted like old friends with a roaring fire and the table already set with homemade bread, cake and jam and some fresh eggs when we arrived in the late evening after about a 90 minute leisurely drive from Dublin Port. The cottage was originally the family home of several generations of the family who had farmed the land before Liam and Breda built their current home on the side of it. It has retained the traditional and rustic nature you would expect of a farmhouse, but has all you need in the way of home comforts. It was clean throughout, comfortable and well stocked with pots, pans, cutlery etc. Everything you needed was in a cupboard somewhere. Plenty of books and games for children as well as SKY TV, DVD player etc. The cottage also has Wi-Fi but was a little patchy in some places of the cottage. As you would expect with it being on a farm, it is out in the countryside and is quiet and peaceful. Wake up in the morning to the sound of the cows and chickens. Liam and Breda told us to treat the surrounding gardens and land as their own and feel free to wander as we wished - in my case I got a tour of the farm and enjoyed chatting with Liam about the farm, its history and his inventions. Their friendly approach was even displayed by their three dogs too ! The small village of Ballyragget is about a five minute drive away and has a small supermarket (which seemed to stock everything), a couple of "take away" outlets, petrol station and a few other small shops. Kilkenny is the nearest large town, about 20 minutes or so away and the castle there is well worth a visit. In summary, a very comfortable holiday accommodation, but the best asset are the owners."

"We were gifted a week in this delightful cottage as an anniversary present and brought our two small children (boys aged 3 and 5) and one set of grandparents. Our stay in this cottage has been fantastic. We were welcomed on arrival by home baked cake and scones and tea, and this pretty much set the tone for the whole week. Breda and Liam were attentive and welcoming without being intrusive. They made sure we wanted for nothing and made sure to point out all the amenities, including how the heating worked, where the extra fuel for the stove was to be found, and where the games room was. The also pointed the way to the hen run and invited the boys to check for eggs and enjoy eating any they found. For the children, staying on a real live farm was mind-blowing. They loved seeing the cows and calves, loved being around the dogs and looking for eggs, and especially loved the attention they got from both Breda and Liam. It has to be said though, Liam was the star of the show. He allowed the older of the two boys to help at milking time, making sure the cow was letting down milk, (I hope she's recovered at this stage!) and when both of them were allowed to sit in the tractor when Liam went to feed the calves using his specially invented feeding contraption, he made two small friends for life. They were so happy to be allowed to help on a real farm (supervised by Daddy and Grandad of course) and will remember this holiday for years to come. The cottage itself was cosy and it was lovely to come back to it after a day of exploring or visiting whatever attraction was on the menu for that day. The older boy was sure to make it to the top of the castle in the garden every day though, just so as not to waste staying in a place with a castle in the garden. Having a gas barbeque set up outside the back door was a nice touch, and it got used several times during the week, because the weather was unexpectedly glorious for early April. We have had an awesome holiday, helped in no small measure by having such a comfortable base, perfect for exploring the local and not-so-local attractions. We visited the Rock of Cashel as well as Kilkenny and it's environs, and the cottage is the perfect place to start from for each of these. The roads around this cottage are also great for that early morning run, not too busy and a good mix of hills and flat sections. All in all, we'd heartily recommend this cottage to anyone, Breda and Liam could not be better hosts, and we've been very comfortable here. We would like to thank them for making us feel so welcome, and we'd love to visit again in the future."

The homemade Irish brown bread and Irish muffins from the owner. Quiet location but within a short drive shops are available. Very peaceful and loving atmosphere all around the property. Good vibes!"

"We stayed here for a week over Christmas and it was immensely enjoyable. It's in the countryside, which is lovely and peaceful, and it's only a short drive to Kilkenny, which is a delightful city. Breda and Liam were very welcoming and friendly, we couldn't have asked for better hosts. The cottage has loads of room, with everything you'd need, including a cosy fireplace. We would definitely recommend Cherryfield to our friends, and we'd love to return."

"We had a wonderful holiday at Cherryfield, Our hosts met us on arrival and shared a bottle of wine with us. Their hospitality, warmth and genuine care was greatly appreciated by us throughout our holiday, they called to ask if we were comfortable and if there was anything we required. The owner demonstrated for us his amazing farm machine inventions. We will always remember our cosy cottage nestled in the heart of Norman territory. Definitely a wonderful experience and highly recommended by us."

"The farm's life was very interesting for all of us (children and adults), and a special bonus for the kids. All the people there were really kind with us, really helping us to organize our visits or even to obtain a voucher for a flight! This cottage is very nice and well located, in a very quiet environment, but really, most important is the human qualities and the kindness of the owners family!"

"We enjoyed every minute of our week at Cherryfield. The cottage is charming, with a lot of character. It is well-equipped and comfortable, with modern amenities. Being on a working farm was a plus for us - we loved it! The location is great, peaceful and rural but close to Kilkenny (a real treat-don't miss the castle) and the famous Rock of Cashel. We had day trips to Cork and the coast around Wexford and Waterford, and the thought-provoking Famine Workhouse Museum at Donaghmore. The nearby town of Durrow has very grand Durrow Castle with beautiful gardens in which you are free to wander, and a top restaurant for a special meal. Grocery shopping is a breeze at Ballyragget, just a few minutes away. Cherryfield has a large garden if you just want to relax and take in all that country ambience. The owners of Cherryfield are perfect hosts, helpful, friendly and welcoming. We felt very much at home here. "

"Perfection! This is a fantastic place to stay. It's an oasis of calm situated in idyllic peaceful countryside. The cottage itself has a lovely warm atmosphere, a real home from home. It is extremely well equipped, very comfortable and tastefully decorated. The garden has an amazing summer house great for relaxing with a book or a glass of wine. The location is ideal, it's within a 5 minutes drive to the village with supermarkets, pubs and local amenities. The owners were absolutely lovely. They gave us such a warm, friendly welcome and were so kind to us. This made our stay and we will definitely be back. We would certainly recommend this cottage, we loved it! "

"We have had a wonderful time. The family was very friendly, helpful and aimed to do everything to make our stay as pleasant as possible. We had the feeling of being family members from the beginning - started with a warm welcoming. Our children were allowed to feed and to milk the cows. They loved to ride the tractor- what a unforgettable experience! The cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed as well as being a great base for touring. Lots of interesting things to see and do. We can really recommend this cottage! "
