Location

The Coates is a detached barn conversion on a working farm, in the village of Wall-under-Heywood just one mile from Cardington. The cottage sleeps five people and has two en-suite double bedrooms in the eaves (zip/link, can be twin on request) and one single bed on a large landing in the eaves with a curtain for privacy. Also in the cottage is a kitchen with dining area and sitting room with woodburning stove. Outside is off road parking for three cars and a fenced patio with furniture and a barbecue. Situated in a beautiful part of the country, The Coates is a lovely base from which to explore the countryside.

The rural hamlet of Wall-under-Heywood is near to the pretty village of Cardington, which lies at the foot of Caradoc and Lawley Hills amongst the rolling hills of the South Shropshire countryside. Cardington boasts the oldest pub in Shropshire - The Royal Oak, mentioned in the Domesday Book! Its rural situation is ideal for sightseeing, with miles of country walks in all directions, not to mention the beautiful Shropshire hills - a draw for walkers, riders and nature lovers alike.

A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was "the quietest place under the sun" and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England

"We loved our stay here at this beautiful barn conversion, which has been tastefully decorated and was like a 'home from home' in the kitchen with everything we needed. It was particularly wonderful for our young son, who is a 'farmer' and loves all things farming. Lovely views both of the country and big tractors in the farm yard. Our hosts were fabulous, checking that everything met our requirements. Many thanks for a wonderful week."
