Guests have use of the games room and the owners' grounds, including an exclusive 2 mile farm woodland walk, and stabling with hacks and cross country jumps with access to the Jack Mytton Way. With wood burners, exposed beams and lovely views, it's a charming and characterful property. Larger groups should consider hiring both Corn House and its wonderfully named neighbour, Turnip House. The two are connected by a soundproof door and together can accommodate up to 16 people.

Popular with nature lovers, ramblers, equine enthusiasts or those who just enjoy relaxing in bucolic bliss, Plaish and nearby Cardington offers a quiet haven to get away from it all and enjoy a quintessentially English rural break. The larger market towns in the area offer an urban distraction for those who fancy a break from all that peace and quiet, while other attractions in the area include Severn Valley Steam Railway, Action Scott Historic Working Farm, Stokesay Castle and Ironbridge. Fans of the esoteric arts should note: Cardington was owned by the Knights Templar until 1308.

A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was "the quietest place under the sun" and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.

Reviews of Corn House

"We loved the Corn House, it is full of character and is comfortable and homely, lots to keep children entertained , games room and go-carts etc. Our grandchildren loved collecting eggs and feeding the pigs. The kitchen is very well equipped and there is a beautiful dining room. All the bedrooms were very comfortable The surrounding countryside is beautiful with lovely walks, the property is also very dog friendly. The only negative is that because the property is split over three levels there are stone steps from the kitchen on the middle level down to the dining room, lounge level and ground floor bedroom level which could cause problems for anyone with mobility difficulties. We will definitely be returning"

"Absolutely fantastic week staying in corn house. Everything you need in one place with so many little finishing touches to make it so relaxing and enjoyable. The fresh flowers on the table and a plate of homemade cookies on arrival show that from the moment you arrive you wont be disappointed. All the necessities like washing up liquid, tea towels, toiletries and lots lots more were available. Everything is well maintained and looked after. My kids loved the go karts, tennis courts, rowing boat, play park, games rooms, brushing ponies, feeding pigs, picking fruit and collecting eggs. The cottage itself is very quirky with 3 levels and a typical farm house feel. We would definitley return again. "

"The house itself is beautiful and full of character. Perfect for anyone wanting to get away from noise and the busy-ness of life. It's beautiful inside and was wonderful to come home to after a long day in the cold - very cosy and warm! Set in the middle of the countryside it is surrounded by bright yellow fields and farm animals (perhaps not so good for bad hayfever sufferers at this time of year). Plenty of walking to be done in the local area! The property itself is perfect for children with a sandpit, slide, swings and plenty of go-karts and tricycles to play on all day. Our kids all had great fun making use of these (as did the adults), along with the ping pong table in the games room of the barn next door. Our stay could not have been better! Honestly couldn't fault it, and with the host so close by, it meant that had we had any difficulties she was right there, ready to help and always with a big smile on her face. Thank you Sara! We hope to be back again."

"A weekend away with friends, 2 families with children aged 6 to 14. Lovely quirky holiday house on different levels with lots of space. Own little garden with sun chairs and BBQ as well as the wider farm area. We were lucky with the weather and made use of the little boat, the farm walks and the games areas. Kids loved the go karts. Fab large dinning table - would seat 12! Only think is the kitchen could probably do with a bit of updating / decluttering. will definitely return."

We have had an amazing few days the house is brilliant there was plenty of room for all of us. The kitchen is really well equipped has everything you need, was a big help having two fridges in there to cope with all the food we took. Our bedroom was lovely plenty of room and storage space. Our grandchildren loved the play area and so did the adults playing Tennis and basketball and also going on the go karts shame weather wasn't a bit nicer. The men also spent a lot of time in the games rooms having competitons against each other. Our friends who stayed in the Spinney Retreat said how lovely and peaceful it was. Cant wait to go back again great place for us to all get together ."
