Reviews of Little Acres

"Great little cottage just outside of York. It has modern features, a nice log burner, great surroundings and its an easy, one road drive to York. We stayed for a few nights with our 1 year old and it was a very relaxing break. Good base for York, Harrogate, Leeds etc but there's also plenty to do locally if your into walking and small village life. My only suggestion would be a nice big clock on the wall would be all the cottage needs, as it's easy to lose track of track of time when your relaxing and away from the busyness of everyday life. Would definitely stay again! Thanks"

"The title says it all, Little Acres is a real credit to the owners Anna & Adam. Upon arrival we were greeted with a warm and wecoming cottage, fantastically appointed throughout. There was even a small hamper left for us, of wine, cake, chocolates and of course dog bisuits for a our four legged guest. A very thoughful gesture indeed and really kicked of our weekend break the right way. The cottage itself is lovely, kitchen is very well equipped, beds are super comfortable, showers and bath are fantastic and there is a large enclosed garden with a patio to relax in. Being winter, for us what was perfect, was coming home after a day in the cold and relaxing infront of the log burner. Safe to say, our dog abolsutely loved it with her bed right infront of the fire. The cottage itself is surrounded by countryside which makes for really quiet moonlit evenings, amazing sunrises and some beautiful scenery to amble around in. Location is fantastic, York being only 25 minutes away at most (perfect for the Christmas Markets), and is surrounded by small quaint villages and not forgetting some fantastic walks which were welcomely rcommened to us. Bishop wood being one we got lost in for hours! Perfect! There are lots of recommendations of places to eat and visit in the welcome book, well worth a look through if you haven't already planned your days there. Hosts are fantastic and really friendly, even went the extra mile to arrange flowers and prosseco on arrival for my partners birthday. Really couldn't do enough for us, but happily left us to our own devices. Honestly, if you are thinking about staying in this area, please give Little Acres some thought, you will not be disappointed at all!!"

"After a long exhausting flight from Sydney this little cottage plucked from the internet was a sight for sore and tired eyes. It has absolutely everything you could need and more. We were greeted by Adam and inside was a welcome basket of wines, cakes plus milk and flowers. This cottage is so comfortable that you could easily stay a month or more. Beds were best so far in UK, Wi-Fi was quick, kitchen so well set up cooking was a breeze. Showers were very high tech with fab pressure and plenty of hot water. The Castle recommended by Adam was a beautiful pub with great food, beers and staff. We can't recommend this cottage highly enough!"

"Lovely, well equipped 2 bedroom cottage with a large garden, 2 bathrooms and a state of the art kitchen. Lovely welcome of bottles of wine and milk from hosts, Adam and Anna. Great location for exploring York and surrounding areas with sites such as Castle Howard and its Arboretum and Malton. Cawood also has three excellent pubs which are well worth visiting."

"This homely cottage, with a modern contemporary interior, features great technology. Top spec showers, music system and cooking appliances make for easy living. There are comfy king sized beds in both bedrooms, if you prefer a twin room one of the beds is a zip link and can be split. The garden is ideal for dogs, it is fenced and a good size. There is a patio set for alfresco dining and at night, it is ideal for star gazing as there is no light pollution, heaven, literally! The cottage and location feel particularly secure, plenty of space for parking. The location is close to amenities in the nearby village of Cawood although we didn't have enough time to frequent the local public houses they are within walking distance down a lane or two. If York, Selby, Leeds, Harrogate, the Dales or Moors or the coast take your fancy they are great for days out. Fancy days in? The cottage is peaceful enough for relaxation, reading, painting or catching up on your favourite programmes. I would recommend the cottage for a summer or winter break, the log burner is so inviting and the summer evenings with stunning sunsets and stargazing are hard to beat. The owners, Anna and Adam, were attentive and prompt with all communications. They will no doubt exceed guest expectations and enjoy welcoming future guests. Little Acres is an absolute gem."

"I would 100% recommend 'little acres'. This was an amazing place to stay. The owners Anna and Adam have put so much time and effort into making the cottage a perfect place to stop. One of the best English holidays we have ever had :). I stopped for one week w/c 27th July with my husband, parents and dog (Bertie) and really wished we had booked two weeks as it was so nice. On the Saturday we arrived we was greeted with a welcome basket including milk, wine, chocolate and even biscuits for the dog. The cottage is fitted with all mod cons and all done to a very high standard. The location is perfect for exploring York and the surrounding area. There are no negatives I really can not fault 'little acres'. It really was perfect."

"We stayed here for a week and had a great time. The cottage is really well equipped with everything you need for a holiday near York. Anna and Adam keep it spotless and make you very welcome. Safe garden for the kids and when Jamie brought out his football Adam arrived with a football net that has been well used. Thomas has had fun looking for grasshoppers in the garden and watching Claud run about next door. All in all we are chuffed to bits that we picked here to stay... "

"The cottage is very impressive, it is very comfortable and finished to a very high specification. The owners Adam and Anna include a lot of little things to get your holiday started. We appreciated the tea, milk, cakes, sweets and wine and the vase of flowers. It is extremely well equipped, we even found hot water bottles supplied if you are unlucky to get cold weather, although the cottage is centrally heated and has a wood burning stove. There is a nice garden area, and it was nice to sit outside on the patio. The cottage is well situated, very easy access to York. We travelled to Harrogate in about 45 mins, we also travelled to some of the surrounding villages which were lovely. If you're a fan of Bangers and Cash TV car auctions, it is situated near Pickering and is about an hours drive. We stopped and had lunch at Maltby on the way. Cawood is charming, excellent food served at The Castle Inn. Anna and Adam are perfect hosts, very helpful if you need them and keep their distance if you don't."

"The location was ideal for getting into York and a good central point to venture further afield, Whitby was over an hours drive away but well worth the visit and Selby Cathedral which is very local was a eyeopener. The cottage was light, airy, clean and very cosy which we needed as when we stayed at the beginning of June the weather was awful, but that did not take away how much we enjoyed our stay and we hope to return in the future this time hopefully with some drier weather. Anna and Adam- the owners could not do enough to make our stay welcome. I would highly recommend a stay in this cottage."

"Well situated for easy access to York and Selby - there is a regular bus service if you want to leave the car behind for a day. The cottage itself has been fitted out with quality equipment - eg digital control showers, NEFF induction hob, bluetooth speaker, SMART TV etc - what a change from some of the places we have stayed at. And most importantly, a spacious secure garden for our dog to roam around in. Well done to Anna and Adam."

The house is equipped to the highest specification and is very comfortable. Anna and Adam, the owners, have created a holiday house that provides everything their guests need. We loved the well equipped kitchen with high quality appliances, oven and induction hob and the luxury en-suite and bathroom. We also enjoyed the house's open aspect looking across fields and country lanes. The nearby village has a pub that serves great food and a network of lovely footpaths that are easily accessed from the house. We will certainly visit again."

"What a gem. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The cottage was spotlessly clean and definitely had the wow factor. Beautifully decorated with quality furnishings. Lovely touches like fresh flowers and a welcome gift of milk, wine and biscuits. Little jars with chocolates and one with dog biscuits were a thoughtful touch. Lovely enclosed garden which was great for the dog... Or if you had children. Conveniently located for York and Leeds. Anna and Adam who owned the cottage were welcoming but not intruding. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommended this to anyone."
