Reviews of Meagill Farmhouse

"We as a family enjoyed our stay at the Meagill Farmhouse only because we are easy going and made the best of a BAD job. Pros: Great Location Cons: All the lights thick with cobwebs Water didn't work properly, Master bedroom shower you had to turn it on then go to the bathroom down the hall and run the water there to get the shower to run. Obvious smell of pets, the washer/drier stank, full of stagnant water. Hot Tub we thought was great until the owner came over to say we had broken the filter cover, which was damaged when we first went in as the boken part was floating on the top. Shelf in the Fridge/Freezer Broken. No wood provided for the fire. (states Fuel provide) Very dangerous doors on the en-suite, my son cot his ankle as you have to lift the doors when going in and out."

"Stayed here for my suprise 30th weekend. Asked for a bond and didnt get it back we arrived to a leak in the roof after someone flushing the chain upstairs we called the owners to tell them this who said she would get a cleaner out to sort, but we didnt c anyone all weekend. So the reasons they aint giving us the bond back is because of the mark on the ceiling which they were advised about and said this had happened before! Another reason was cause the bed sheet had makeup on! Tiny bit of make up which would come off in the wash! The dish washer was full of pots when we got there so cleary not been a cleaner or anyone round before we got there! We had plastic cups est to use all weekend!! The towel was mark she said, yes because we needed somethinh to clean up the water that was coming through the ceiling!!! Please i strongly advise not to stay here! They will pick up any excuse to get as much money out of u as possible! "

"Please don't stay here, the owner will take a house bond off you and make up any kind of excuse not to refund you. I personally dropped of my wife and friends for a surprise 30th Birthday surprise for my daughter. One of the party used the toilet in the ensuite room above the kitchen, all of a sudden there was water pouring through the ceiling in several areas. Immediately my niece contacted the owners and they replied they were aware of the leak in the toilet and said they'll send a cleaner around. The cleaner never came and in a desperate measure to clean up the water which had poured through the ceiling, some towels were used to help absorb all the water. My wife, daughter and friends didn't want this too spoil there 2 night break here so didn't make too much a fuss about this. I therefore took pictures of other damages throughout the property before I left my wife to enjoy the weekend. I also have video footage of the leak and I was very shocked with everything. After picking up my wife and party I asked for a refund the next day, too my surprise the owner said they weren't giving a refund due to the "stained ceiling" towels with make-up on or staining from something else & make-up on bed covers.. Straight away I thought the owner is having a laugh.. The stained ceiling was down too the leak within the first 15mins off arrival and the towels were from cleaning up the water.. This is disgusting from the owner to charge for something that wasn't our fault and never during the 2 nights stay send a cleaner around. So I would strongly advise never too stay here... "

"Fabulous long weekend. Just back today after an extended family get together. Firstly, this place is fairly remote - which was ideal for us, I was a deep Cumbrian countryside child so I knew what to expect - but guests might want to think about food/essentials shopping pre-visit. The accommodation is amazing and very, very high spec. There is a fine pub - Hopper Lane a few minutes drive away: 20-25 minute walk. Not for you if you want bright lights and club life. Definitely for you if you and your grandkids like feeding ponies/horses carrots and feeding emus - yes emus - kitchen scraps. Dog friendly but be aware there are sheep in the locality so please be a responsible owner. The local countryside and views are stunning. Absolutely lovely, a great find by my son and return visit already being planned. And lastly - the owners are lovely, friendly and non intrusive and many thanks to them for letting us stay. "
