Location
Wild Duck Lodge is a detached single-storey cottage situated one mile from the Lancashire village of Mawdesley and thirteen miles from the seaside resort of Southport. This cottage sleeps four people in two double bedrooms, and also has a bathroom with corner bath, a kitchen with dining area and a sitting room. Outside there's ample off road parking, a patio with furniture, and shared use of the owners' grounds. Wild Duck Lodge is a perfect base for exploring Lancashire, the Lake District and the Western Dales.
The rural village of Mawdesley is located on the West Lancashire plain, just less than 15 miles from the seaside town of Southport. Twice coming first in the Best Kept Village competition, the village offers a scattering of traditional brick-built cottages, old farmhouses, barn conversions and a local pub all surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside. Close by is Martin Mere nature reserve, Mere Sands Wood, the market town of Ormskirk, and the Victorian seaside town of Southport.
Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.
