Reviews of Chimney Cottage
"This cottage has everything you need to make a stay comfortable and enjoyable. It is very well equipped, has a very secure garden for our dog and is surrounded by beautiful countryside with lots of lovely walks on the doorstep. The local pub, The Royal George, serves good quality pub food and is so friendly and welcoming to all. The owners of the cottage live in the attached property, they are welcoming and friendly but not intrusive in anyway. We were lucky enough to have beautiful weather during our stay and the private garden was perfect to relax in and a great place to watch the bird life. The surrounding villages and towns are all very interesting and well worth a visit but it is very tempting to just relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of the cottage and the village of Lingen."

"We stayed for two weeks and enjoyed every minute despite rain in the first half. Such a beautiful quiet area with loads of walks both from the cottage and a little further afield. The cottage is very spacious and comfortable and extremely well equipped. We particularly liked the luxurious bathroom with a huge bath in addition to the roomy shower enclosure. Lovely enclosed garden just right for our elderly dog. The pub literally 2 minutes walk away is a (dog) friendly place serving good pub food."

"The cottage was very spacious for a 2/3 person property and was also very well equipped. Being part of a 16th century listed building, it was also full of character. The enclosed garden was ideal for our dog as well as for enjoying a glass of wine after one of the numerous walks in the area. The surrounding countryside is very appealing, with rolling hills and quiet lanes. We enjoyed good walks from the cottage as well as on the Offa's Dyke path which is only a short drive away and has gates rather than stiles, making it easier going with the dog. If you enjoy walking and like to get off the beaten track then this is the place for you, especially if you have a dog."

"Chimney Cottage is by far the loveliest cottage we have stayed in; it was very dog friendly with a large, secure garden and the owners were very dog friendly too, their spaniel was a delight and very friendly! The cottage was very cosy and warm whilst feeling spacious too; it had everything you could possibly need including the hose outside for muddy paws! We felt so at home we didn't want to leave! The walks from the cottage were great and the local pub, two minutes walk away and dog friendly was a real treasure."

"My wife and I had a fabulous holiday and staying at Chimney Cottage made it extra special. Lingen is a lovely quiet village and extremely well placed to allow you to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside. There is great walking straight from the cottage door and in the wider area. The cottage itself was perfect; spotlessly clean, spacious, well equipped and extremely comfortable; it was a lovely home from home to return to each evening after a days exploring. We couldn't recommend it highly enough and hope to return in the future."

We had a wonderful time exploring the local lanes and footpaths with our dog, the area was very tranquil. "What more could a dog wish for? Great garden, great walks, great local pub, somewhere to rest my weary head and happy parents! Everything was perfect, from the relaxed, warm welcome from the cottage owners, to the privacy of the cottage, even though it was cheek 'n' jowl to their home. Everything had been laid on for our comfort and even though it is just a one bedroomed cottage, it is roomy and very well equipped. Lots and lots to see within 20 minutes drive of the village and really good walking on our doorstep, including that vital 'last thing at night' walk around the mote and bailey that was within yards of our door. Quick tip - the most wonderful farmers market on the first Saturday of the month in Presteigne!"

"We had a great week's stay at this beautiful, clean, comfortable cottage. It was an ideal place to stay with our springer spaniel who loved the enclosed garden and the lovely walks we did. The local pub was only one minute's walk away and we experienced a warm welcome whenever we went there. The food was typical pub fare but it tasted fantastic especially the gammon and home made chicken pie. The owners were very helpful and not intrusive. The welcoming eggs, milk and sponge were much appreciated. We know everybody has different tastes and needs but we would not hesitate to recommend this property especially if you have a dog. Ours was welcomed more or less wherever we went although she is a rescue with some issues and can be nervous of strangers. The area was very quiet and we liked watching the sparrows and house martins that were nesting under the eaves."

"Chimney Cottage is in a beautiful area with lovely local walking that's not too demanding! There is a lot to do within a 15 mile radius. It was an attractive, well appointed cottage that fits the 'chocolate box' ideal. It is fortunate enough to be just a few doors away from a lovely 'local' pub that does pub grub. It is adjacent to the owners property, but it is private and has its own secluded garden with good quality outdoor seating."

"Very tempting to write a poor review so there is more availability next time we want to book! However, we've already booked our next stay and a poor review would be very unfair on Robert & Trish and all of you who are yet to discover this amazing Gem. The accommodation was superb. Clean, tidy, well appointed and very spacious. Has only one bedroom but that is large & so is downstairs and the bathroom, not the poky accommodation that sometimes accompanies a one bed cottage. Plenty of room for us and our dog Neo. It truly is a lovely cottage, the owners are very helpful and always available for questions but not intrusive at all. The local pub and the locals are absolutely great and very friendly. We want to move there! The pub, the Royal George is about 100 yards away & is probably the best local in the whole area, with good pub grub, although many others are worth a visit. we spent days out in Ludlow (gorgeous) and the nearest town is Presteigne which is sweet. Cannot recommend highly enough. Absolutely no mobile phone signal but some, including my wife. regard that as a bonus! WiFi, supposedly slow but we had absolutely no problem. Interesting walks from the door step, beautiful countryside & a great pub & friendly locals.......who could wish for more?!!"

"I will be honest, we booked this cottage on Sykes Cottages as it was the cheapest of all the cottages with 4 ticks that accepted dogs and how glad we did! The cottage was absolutely ideal, with a private garden for Flynn where we often had breakfast or lunch/dinner. There was a brilliant pub, The Royal George, literally a stone's throw from the cottage where you could have a very good meal and the locals were very friendly. There were some great walks right on the doorstep, which was a bonus since you don't always want to drive somewhere. As for the area, wow! We hadn't been to the Herefordshire/Powys border before but it is stunningly beautiful with fabulous towns and villages in abundance. Visit Hay on Wye, Ludlow and Hereford and many more places for great days out. The cottage is attached to the owners' cottage but don't let this prevent you from booking Chimney Cottage, Trish and Robert were really lovely people, always discrete but available if required. We had a fabulous 2 weeks with, thankfully, wonderful weather. Highly recommended! [Only downside, no washing machine but this was because we were the first to book a fortnight and we were offered the use of Trish & Robert's if we needed.]"
