Howden is a small historic market town in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It lies about 20 miles south-east of York. The town of Howden is dominated by its beautiful Minster, which leads to a beautifully preserved Georgian town centre, with narrow cobbled streets and restored buildings with some attractive shops, historic coaching inns and charming tea rooms, and a small market which takes place each Friday. On the outskirts of the town, Howden Marsh is a lovely place for a quiet walk, with a lake and small islands which have become habitat for birds and wildlife
