Reviews of Bale House
"Jacqui, the manager, was lovely and very helpful but the cottage was not worth the money paid especially when you consider the other properties on neighbouring villages. Showers were cubicles that opened into the bedroom, the beds were poorly put together with weak supports holding them up. Because we had three children in cots we had to move beds to make space for them and doing this knocked the supports making one bed un usable. There were things put together with what I can I can only assume is bad DIY. The bathroom blind fell off when we tried to close it, there were wood trims falling down, loose floor boards and steps on the stairs. The cottage was warm with constant hot water but the two showers were cubicles in the bedrooms and only a bath, all be it lovely and large bath, in the main bathroom. The kitchen was adequately stocked and included a microwave. On arrival it wasn't clear which was Bale House or where we could park as other guests were using our allocated parking. It was about 10-15 minute walk out of north Tawton in a small complex of converted barns. The barn its self was okay, quite dark which wasn't helped by the dark furnishing. With lots of levels and so therefore steps it wasn't the most relaxing place with toddlers. One thing we couldn't fault was the cleanliness, it was absolutely spotless. Next time however we will stay else where, this barn need a lot of love and care paid to it and until that happens its not for us."
