Reviews of The Old Police House
"I was very shocked to find rubbish from previous Guests left in the garden by the back door. The owner know of our booking but no heating had been on for days so the house took 12 hours to heat up. The towels had seen better days, must have been years old. The house was not cleaned very good, make up on sheets, dirty floors. Would not book this cottage again. Did report it but to date no apologies from owner"

"The perfect place to relax after a great day surfing- yes, even in September! Easy to wash and hang wetsuits in the garden afterwards. Such a convenient location (for both beach and shops right outside for breakfast!) and cosy space to spend the evenings. Plus I have kitchen envy- they really have everything you need here."

"Stayed for two nights, visiting the beach a couple of times during our stay. The house is centrally located on a road in the village, with shops and restaurants less than 5 minutes away, but it is still very quiet. House is very well equipped, we cooked while we were there. Garden was a bit cold for sitting out this time of year in the evening- we shall have to come back during the summer!"

"This house feels like home, we want to move here. Spacious, clean and beautifully equipped, with a large kitchen diner fitting us all in, including the dog. The house is so well situated with the park up the road, the river walk 5 minutes away and the Tarka trail conveniently close. We walked from the property on all these paths and up the hill at the back of the house where we had stunning views across Braunton Burrows. Other days we drove to Braunton Burrows or Saunton Sands or Crow point, all 10 minutes drive, and wandered for hours taking in the wildlife, the plants and picking mushrooms and mussels for dinner. We'll be back next year for sure."

"The Old Police House is a spacious house in the heart of Braunton that comfortably fits our group of 4 adults and 5 children. Its in a great location, within walking distance of the shops, bar and famous Squires fish and chips and just a few mins drive from the amazing North Devon beaches. The house has been sympathetically renovated, keeping its quirky features including the wonderful "Cell" with its hand-built bunkbeds. Its well equipped and furnished. There is a large dining table that seats everyone off the open plan kitchen and a great decked garden complete with slide that keeps the kids entertained. In fact the kids keep asking "are we going to the house again for Easter?" Well we have just booked for the third time as its such a comfortable house in a great location."

"This is the second time I have visited the old police house. This time we had lots of sunshine and really enjoyed lazing on the top deck with prossecco and raspberries; cooking up meals in the sociable kitchen (with ingredients from the shops conveniently 2 minutes away) and watching Netflix and a DVD from the selection. During the day we visited nearby beaches and dunes for long walks, the obligatory icecreams, and excellent fish and chips from over the road (squires are award winning and 16 is super - but closed Sundays). I love waking up in the garden room to the sound of distant seagulls reminding you you are on holiday at the seaside. We also spent an evening playing various board games which was great fun and all provided too. The house is really well equipped for relaxing and feels spacious and happy. Oh and the shower is great - proper powerful and gets the salt of you easily. I will have to come back again to use the lovely claw foot bath next time tho."

"Right in the heart of the town with a butchers, grocers, bakery, and Coop all 2 minutes walk away as well as plenty of surf shops and lovely cafes. The house was amazing - such a great garden. We sat out on the decking and had a BBQ while the kids ran around the garden having a water fight and tiring themselves out on the slide before going to sleep in the fantastic bunk beds, which have to be seen to be believed - there is no bottom bunk!! When it is sunny there are gorgeous beaches a few minutes drive away, and when it rains there is plenty to do just in the house: there is a cupboard full of board games, a smart TV, tonnes of baking equipment and great wifi. We will definitely be coming back!"

"The Old Police House is amazing. Thank you for providing such extremely comfortable beds. Very comfortable house, excellent kitchen area and nice bedrooms. The boys loved the cell room, especially the bunk beds. BBQ was a lovely touch for a warm spring evening, and when the weather got wet there were lots of games, books and dvds in the house to occupy us. Braunton is a great place to use as a base to visit North Devon. We went to all the local beaches and loved them all. Would defo recommend. Thank you - ticked all the boxes."
