Stanton-by-Dale is a small village in the South East of Derbyshire, retaining its unspoilt charm. The Stanhope Arms and the Chequers Inn are the two watering holes situated within the village. A deep history surrounding the industiralisation of the area lies at the Stanton Ironworks company, which in the 1960's joined with Staveley Ironworks, together housing 7,000 workers manufacturing manhole covers and concrete street lamps. There are charming cottages, almshouses, a traditional parish church and village hall, cricket ground and even a medieval cross overlooking a village green. The city of Nottingham is nearby, and Derby lies to the west, with the Peak District offering walking and outdoor activities in abundance.
