Reviews of Blake Fell Cottage

"A lovely cottage with amazing walking near by around Ennerdale, Loweswater, crummock water etc., and further afield in the glorious lakes. Very warm and cosy with a good layout and 2 double rooms which are both very comfortable. Dog friendly too so fantastic holiday for long walks with our 2 dogs, who love staying here."

"Really lovely cottage, everything you need for a break. Everything beautifully decorated and of a high standard. Thoughful touches such as having spare dogs bowls and towels for when you come off a muddy walk. Close enough to walks and lakes to be found at ennerdale, buttermere and keswick. Had a great week and would stay again in th furture. Thanks."

"Blake Fell Cottage is an ideal base to explore the hidden gems of this more remote part of the Lakes but still convenient for Keswick, Buttermere and other popular locations. We have stayed here many times and always leave with great memories. We love visiting the nearby Ennerdale Lake when we stay, which is always peaceful and tranquil and a real contrast to the more well known and crowded tourist spots, unless you happen to be there in October when the trail race is on! There are plenty of beautiful walks on the doorstep or within a short drive many of which are family friendly and over the years our children have got a real taste for the outdoors. The guide book provided by the owner is full of useful information and personal recommendations on where to walk, shop and eat. The Kirkstile Inn being our favourite - no stay is complete without a meal and a pint of Loweswater Gold. A great end to a day of walking. Asby is a quiet village and the cottage is always very welcoming and has all that we need for a comfortable stay. It is warm and always very clean with comfortable beds, hot shower (or bath), washing machine and a log burner. We will be back!"

"We love the lakes and this area is especially stunning. The cottage is in a small village with easy access to local amenities nearby. We booked for the remote location and peace and quiet. The owner provided great information on where to walk (especially dog walking!) and local pubs/ restaurants. We sampled a few and all were lovely and dog friendly. The cottage itself was very cosy with the log burner and electric blankets made bedtime very welcoming. The kitchen is well equipped and there were clear instructions for washing/ drying/ heating etc to make everything comfortable after a great walk with 2 dogs in somewhat wet/muddy but stunning scenery. I would also advise snow-capped Scafell Pike at this time of year for a superb hike - a short scenic drive away. We always treat like our own home so avoid mud and clean up after ourselves and this cottage feels very homely. The beds are very comfortable and we slept very well. All in all a wonderful property in an amazing part of the world. Would highly recommend."

"Beautiful, charming and cosy, but not too small, cottage situated on the edge of the Lake District. Very well furnished with all mod cons. Ideally located for Keswick, Kendal and Cumbria, A great area for walking and taking in the views. Local eateries not too far away if required. Great being pet friendly. Have visited Blake Fell Cottage three times and can 100% recommend."

"We have stayed at this cottage before and booked again as we find the location perfect to enjoy a quiet relaxing break. Walking and cycling are our hobbies and there is ample opportunity to find different routes, challenging or otherwise to enjoy the outdoors without driving miles to get there. We have set off on our bikes straight from the cottage and picked up the Coast to Coast route within a couple of miles. There is also a very pleasant walk within only a very short drive from the cottage. We also enjoy shopping, pubs and restaurants and have found the fish and chip shops ideal for a quick meal, grocery stores close by if cooking at the cottage is preferred and just an abundance of nice places to eat within a short drive. Once back at the cottage after a day out the facilities there are so comfortable. There is heating and a lovely warm bath if required as well as a shower and a log burner for when its chilly whilst watching television. Last August we took our dog with us and she enjoyed many walks, picnics and very long naps. Hoping to book again this Summer."
