"My sister booked this property. For 3 nights there were 7 adults, 1 teenager and 4 dogs (2 of which were small dogs), and for the remaining 2 nights there were 6 adults, 1 teenager, a baby and 4 dogs (the smallest dog had gone home along with 3 adults due to work committments and were replaced by 2 other adults, a baby and another dog), The Lodge is a lovely property and very spacious and is in reach of many places (mostly by car). The only criticism I have is that you are only left 3 dishwasher tablets, 3 days worth of washing up liquid and 1 toilet roll per toilet (so you need to take extra of these with you). Housekeeping could do with being picked up on slightly - One or two of the bedrooms had dust webs hanging from ceilings and on the walls behind beds, only spotted the ones under the beds when reaching to get something from underneath (also saw one or two webs on / around wooden furniture, which can be off-putting for some). The shelves in the fridge door are on the verge of falling out and the fridge door didn't always close (so double check when using the fridge). We found the hot water went off on an evening in the kitchen and upstairs (downstairs seemed to be fine) and we found out that by putting the emersion switch on upstairs that helped. If you take dogs ensure you do not leave them unattended in the play area. This area does have fencing around, but there are sheep in the adjoining fields. We also saw a couple of ducks in/around the pond area where you can enjoy a picnic. The Hot Tub is amazing (the light switch just to the left of the back door prior to exiting into the garden area). Fab way to relax at the end of the day. Someone comes in between 8.00 am and 9.00 am to check the hot tub so do not let dogs out during this time. Best place we found for mobile phone signal - kitchen window behind the kitchen table. The Greyhound Pub in the village (5 mins walk away). Very welcoming, dogs welcome and food was excellent when we ate there. We went to the coast and a local resident gave us names of places of interest that we visited, including Kadampa Buddhist Temple (dogs allowed in the grounds), There is also a gift shop and cafe there and a wood walk, Coniston - found we could get supplies here from a local Village Co-Op Store and the Spar on the garage forecourt (a decent sized shop), Ambleside, Cartmel, Lake Windermere (free ferry crossing for blue badge holders), Hawkshead (Hill Top House - Beatrix Potter's house - dogs not allowed in, someone would need to stay outside with them). You can do the walk to the lake that Beatrix and William undertook, but if rained / is raining expect to get rather muddy - no cost to do this walk and it is a lovely walk (slightly up hill) and you can get a map from where you buy tickets to enter the house. We stopped off in Morecombe on our way home (not so dog friendly) so if the weather is bad there didn't seem to be anywhere to go with dogs other than to stand under canapy's that only a few shops had in situ. Lovely cafe on the pier, but dogs not allowed in, and we sat outside - they have a nice menu to cater for most people. We also went up onto the top of the mountains after leaving Ambleside (very narrow roads, some very, very steep (personally I would not recommend if you have a long vehicle as some of the bends are very tight and on one or two you need to go part way round then reverse back slightly to get round. Beautiful scenary once you get to the top. Overall - great stay and would stay at Bank End Lodge again (especially if there are a few of us going). You gain access at 3.00pm on day of arrival and have to leave by 10.00 am on day of departure. They provide bedding and towels so you do not need to take these. First time of visiting the Lake District, but will definitely be going again and exploring further afield, just wish we had found the time to start going years ago."

"To get away from it all at Christmas is what we wanted. This is exactly what we got here. Ten of us plus 2 dogs found the property to be just right for our needs, Plenty of space for everyone and to finally have a christmas dinner where we didnt need to seek extra seats and be squashed around the table! The owners had also put up soem crimbo decorations which is a nice touch. The property was clean and tidy upon arrival, towels supplied also, though i would still bring some with you as the Hot Tub visits took up a lot of them!! The house is warm and furnished appropriately for a large group, the beds were very comfortable (we had the ground floor room overlooking the garden with great views over the village and to the hills) It is exceptionally dark at night here so bring a torch if you need to navigate to the loo at night! There are walks to be had around the property there is a map but we didnt find this of much use so a new version would be a better addition. The village doesnt have much in it, the petrol station is also a little shop and the pub opens at 4pm. Overall we had a great time and a wonderful christmas with most of the family together. Not really any criticisms of this place other than the tvs that are fixed to the wall could do with being placed on a moveable bracket. The Hot Tub was well used and very nice with lovely views. Thank you and all the best for 2017"

"Stayed at Bank End Lodge for a week for my 30th Birthday and had an absolutely fantastic time. The house is very well equiped and exceptionally comfortable, like a home away from home. Doesn't feel like a rental at all. The house was spotless when we arrived and the layout and rooms were brilliant. KItchen facilitiesgreat too with a dishwasher, big oven and massive fridge freezer to accomodate the numbers. Loads of car parking for guests and access into the house on two levels proved useful for loading and unloading cases etc. The garden was perfect with a great stone table and chairs set up with fantastic views and the hot tub really was a worthwhile addition to the booking! Slept like a baby all week! Location is fairly remote (bonus!) so take all you might need (loads of storage space in the house), although there are small local shops dotted around to get basics. Lots of good walking direct on the doorstep (with great views to mountains and coast) and lots of interesting things to do if you take a drive out. Plenty of pubs to venture out to for nice food as well as one within walking distance now too. Spent every night in the garden rain or shine! Would def recommend to large groups/families, great place for a good get together. Also great for dogs with fields on the doorstep to let them loose into for a run and good dog friendly beaches nearby. (Tips - take some hand towels and hand soap for the three bathrooms. Also, we needed extra dishwasher tablets and if you want to do any clothes washing (unlikely on holiday!) take some suds.) Thanks Bank End Lodge, hope to visit again soon!"

"Bank End Lodge is a beautiful cottage, very well kept and equipped for large groups. We booked for a family get together to celebrate a significant birthday and we were not disappointed. Living space, dining area, kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms all very clean and welcoming. Great selection of books, Dvds and games if needed. Lovely garden area and fantastic views. The Hot Tub is a bonus and was well used during our stay, (topped up daily which was great). Good location for walks, we also visited Muncaster Castle which was lovely. Weather was not brilliant but it did not spoil our stay. Only downside - property is close to a main road which may be noisy in the summer. We will certainly return when a large property is needed."

"I thouroughly enjoyed my stay at Bank End Lodge and would recommend lodge as a perfect place to stay. The location was great although we didnt venture to far as the weather made the stay great so it was Bbqs and hot tub and relaxing in the beautiful garden enjoying the peace and quiet surrounded by fields. The kitchen was great, well equiped with everything you need. The living area was great although as I say with weather most of the eating and sitting was done in the garden. i would recommend bank End Lodge as a great family get away for anyone."

"The house was perfect, plenty of room, nice garden area and an excellent base to explore the Southern Lakes. The dogs loved it with lots of lovely walks to explore. We enjoyed fabulous weather so made very good use of the hot tub. Unfortunately the standard of cleaning let the property down. Plates were in the cupboard with food still on them, all the pans had to be rewashed and many of the surfaces were either sticky of thick with dust. Outside areas needed a good brush up as cigarette butts everywhere from previous rentals. Would love to recommend the property but needs to improve the standard of cleaning"

"Visited this beautiful barn conversion with 9 others and four dogs and had a wonderful stay. The weather wasn't great but it didn't matter as the warmth of the accommodation created an atmosphere whereby indoor entertainment was no problem!!....In fact we were so impressed, we are planning our next trip back already! Lovely clean rooms, living room with a homely feel and the bonus hot tub is a must, looking out over the countryside whilst its raining outside is something else! Top break, would recommend to all."

"We arrived as a 9 strong family and found the amenities suited our needs down to the ground. With three grandchildren and a dog we found the accommodation to be first class. The location is very convenient to tour the Southern Lakes area, with some very good walks from the house which was pleasing as we could have a break from the car. The facilites and equipment were excellent, plenty of Dvds and games and toys for the little ones. The one downside we found was the position of the smoke alarm sited right above the cooker, every time the oven door was opened it set the alarm off, b ut this is a minor niggle. We would like to return sometime."

"We booked this cottage for a group of friends to get away for the weekend with our dogs for a quiet relaxing trip and it perfectly suited our requirements. The whole cottage is furnished to a very high standard with a dining table large enough to seat all comfortably, a secure garden for pets and ample parking. The cottage is within easy reach of most places in the Lakes, a 30 minute drive from Ambleside and Coniston with Go Ape 40 minutes away. Also recommended nearby for something a bit different is Horse & Husky, 20 minutes from the cottage. An amazing experience and as her dogs are all rescues it helps to fund their care too. There is no pub within walking distance but the nearest are only a couple of miles away and very good food. We could not fault this cottage and would definitely be glad to return there some day."

"When we arrived we could not believe how nice the house was. It was lovely and clean and very large. The fittings were all very modern and the Hot Tub was amazing! It was very large and fantastic to relax in with great views over the hills. It is also under cover so we could relax in it even when the weather was bad. The bedrooms were spacious for the most part. Only one of the bedrooms (on the bottom floor) was a little cramped. The bedrooms are: 3 double beds and 2 lots of 2 single beds. They were all tastefully decorated and had plenty of storage. There are 3 bathrooms, 2 with showers and one with a bath and shower. All of these were nice and clean. The kitchen was large enough for us to cook for 10 every night, with plenty of work surfaces. There was plenty of cutlery and crockery too. The dining room is part of the kitchen and has one long table that seats 10. The living room has 4 sofas in it and a large plasma tv (and an excellent selsction of Dvds). There was also a stereo with an iPod dock for music. When we arrived there was a note to say the oven was not working but the owner came round that evening to explain that it would be fixed within a few days. This did not bother us as we were mainly cooking with the hobs anyway. Other than this I cannot think of any negatives to this property! As for the location, the house was great. It is only a short drive from Conniston and Windermere. The only problem we found was the lack of pubs/restaurants within walking distance. We didn't try the nearby pub as we found some bad reviews so I can't say anything about that. I would thoroughly recommend this property to those with large groups as it sleeps 10 very comfortably. However cars are a must due to the location!"
