The pretty Teesdale village of Staindrop has always been closely associated with the fortunes of nearby Raby Castle and its owners. The Castle (open to the public) is one of the most grand in England. Enlarged and beautified over the centuries, the medieval heart remains and a walled garden and 200 acre deer park add to the splendour. Staindrop has many interesting shops, pubs and cafes set round its long village green. The popular market town of Barnard Castle is 5 miles away, with its castle, the Bowes Museum, plus of course its wide range of shops and tea rooms. Walkers will enjoy the many walks around Teesdale.
From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?
Reviews of Bell House Barn
"Where to start the place is very well maintained; great facilities home from home; well laid out everything to hand; easy to find; ample parking great for luxury break with friends and family would make a great couples retreat as well as very peaceful; village a short walk everything working and is high quality finish many thanks would consider staying there again. The only thing that bugged me was I never did find the driveway lights lol wanted to see them on at night as the driveway is a good 200m long and would look ace if I could have found the light switch for them. Lol Get your self booked in have a great peaceful retreat! "
